According to the Eye of Beljoxa, Buffy's resurrection triggered the rise of the First Evil, a revelation which would have presented an alternate means of winning the war, if anyone had thought of it. What if someone did?
With the right witches to make it happen, time travel should be simple: Go back. Change only what needs to change. Act normal. But Buffy doesn't travel light. The weight of her loves, losses, hopes, and regrets goes wherever she does. And so does her vampire.
A holiday dream sequence drabble for Epiphany (Christian feast day on 6th January) from Spike's perspective. Set just before Showtime, while Spike is still being tortured by The First and real and fake are becoming less and less reliable.

This was written for nmcil, who wanted a Giles and Anya story set at Halloween. Ten drabbles of Giles and Anya at Halloween from Season 3 onwards, plus an epilogue. Alternating perspectives, and sort of vaguely comic-compliant. It was originally posted in October 2015.
It's 2023, and an epic war is underway between good and evil. This time around, good is losing. But Willow's found a way to turn the tides by sending Buffy back into her past. The catch? She can't change anything directly. Will Buffy choose wisely and save the world, maybe even herself? Or just make everything worse?
